The TROY Artist Residency is housed within the Department of Art & Design at Troy University through funding provided by the Alabama State Council on the Arts. It is intended to provide opportunities for Alabama-based visual artists.
The residency occurs in the spring of each year and includes financial support for the artist. Also provided are studio space and access to departmental facilities and equipment (darkroom, 3d printers, laser cutter, CNC Router, ceramics facility and kilns, printmaking lab, etc.).
In addition to our residency, we also offer opportunities for Visiting Artists to engage in programming for our Fall & Spring Arts Series.
Visiting Artists are invited to campus for shorter periods, usually one week or less. The goal is to create an environment of workshops, artist talks, guest curators, studio visits, and student portfolio reviews, among other activities. The residency is designed for artists with strong Alabama ties, and we welcome artists from all over the world to submit applications for our shorter engagements.
We look forward to hearing from you all, and we appreciate your support of, and participation in, creativity, connectivity, and exploration.
