The TROY Artist Residency is housed within the Department of Art & Design at Troy University through funding provided by the Alabama State Council on the Arts. It is intended to provide opportunities for Alabama-based visual artists.
The residency occurs in the spring of each year and includes financial support for the artist. Also provided are studio space and access to departmental facilities and equipment (darkroom, 3d printers, laser cutter, CNC Router, ceramics facility and kilns, printmaking lab, etc.). The resident will also receive an exhbition at the International Arts Center in the spring of 2027.
We will host an individual artist for a three-week residency and also welcome additional visiting artists to campus for shorter one-week stays. The goal is to create an environment of workshops, artist talks, guest curators, studio visits, and student portfolio reviews, among other activities. The residency is designed for artists with strong Alabama ties, but we welcome artists from all over the world to submit applications for consideration.
We look forward to hearing from you all, and we appreciate your support of, and participation in, creativity, connectivity, and exploration.
